India Pt 4: Michael

Published by Toby at 8:31 am under CT Life

While visiting the children at Bombay Teen Challenge (Devraj’s ministry) I noticed a 20 something white guy sitting at the table across the room from me.   Wondering if he was visiting like I was, I walked over and introduced myself.  He told me he was from New York, had visited India several years ago and felt a clear call to move there and work with these children.  “This is my place in this world,” he said to me.

Our conversation lasted about five minutes, but I’ve been thinking about Michael and his words ever since.  I’ve been considering:

  • the things he had to give up to follow God’s call
  • the radical trust it takes to move to the other side of the world
  • the joy in his eyes as he spoke of the children
  • the confident tone of his voice as he spoke of “his place in the world”

People like Michael (and others) that sell out for the call of God inspire me, humble me and encourage me to hold the things of this world very loosely.  We’re not all called to the mission field, but we are all called.

Lord, give us the faith to follow you….

I couldn’t agree more! If the Christianity we profess cost’s us nothing, it’s probably worth nothing… It’s so difficult to understand sacrifice in a culture such as ours where we face very little by way of hardships compared to the rest of the world…

“God break our hearts as and show us ways to “sell out” like Michael has!”

Love it….”Lord, give us the faith to follow you”

Thanks for the reminder to hold on to the things of this world loosely…..so often i need to be reminded of the things that really matter to Him.

So often I have feared the will of God in my life. Now it seems so unwise not to seek it with all my heart, soul, and strength…

Going out on a limb here…..

Anyone care to join mr for a period of fasting and praying for our families, kids, businesses, churches, and to hear God’s voice more strongly and more consistently?

Beginning today, Ending Thanksgiving day. (three days) Then again on Friday, ending Sunday night.

Two periods of three days each seeking God. Praying throughout the day while at work or whatever, interrupted by THanksgiving Day, then back again for three days.

    See you at the cross.
